My Ramadan To-Do List

During Ramadan, there are many things that you can do to increase the strength of your faith, keep healthy, and participate in community activities. We all know that the beautiful month of Ramadan is essentially about generosity, nobility, developing oneself and being more compassionate towards others.Follow this to-do list to make the most of the holy month.
  • Reading Quran after Fajr

Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur’an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. (Quran 17:78)

  • Istighfar (The easiest of all duas is Astaghfirullah)

Astaghfirullah meaning I seek forgiveness from Allah. You can easily repeat this short supplication 100 times over a minute or two.

Indeed, the promise of Allah is the truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning.
Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgives us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous.
  • Taraweeh salah

“Whoever prays during the nights of Ramadan with a firm belief and hoping for reward, all of his previous sins would be forgiven.”

Muslims offer special prayers during the holy month of Ramadan one of them is Taraweeh that is held every night during Ramadan. Every Muslim is expected to attend and offer this special prayer which is Taraweeh.
  •     Surah Kahf on Fridays

“Whoever reads Surah al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.” (Bayhaqi)

It helps one expatiate from sins, gain blessings of Allah Almighty and prepare one's self for the end of days. Therefore, every Muslim man and woman must try getting into the habit of reciting Surah al Kahf on regular bases.
  •     Reading Surt al Mulk before going to bed

"It is the prevention of punishment of the grave". On the Day of Resurrection Surah Mulk will intervene with Allah for the forgiveness of its Reciter.
Abu Dawood and al-Tirmidhi narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet peace be upon him said: “There is a surah of the Qur’an, with thirty verses, that interceded for a man until he was forgiven; it is ‘Soorah Tabaarak Alladhi bi yadihi’l-mulk (Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion)’ [al-Mulk 67:1].”
“Verily, there is a chapter is the Quran which contains thirty ayahs that will intercede on behalf of its reciter until he is forgiven. (It is) ‘Blessed be He in Whose Hand is the Dominion’ ” (Ahmad)

During the month of Ramadan, try to restrict your schedule to allow more time for worship, reading the Quran, and fulfilling more of the other items on the above "to-do list." Ramadan only comes once a year, and we never know when our last one will be.

What is your goal for this Ramadan? Have you set your goal yet?
